AfriGlobal unveils InsurTech portal AfriCover247, first of its kind in the Nigerian insurance sector

AfriGlobal Insurance Brokers has launched AfriCover247, a digital insurance platform that allows insurance transactions and claims management 24-hour, seven days a week.

The new offering will help businesses, individuals, and technology providers access and easily redistribute insurance solutions in Nigeria.

The AfriCover247 app, available on Android and iOS, will allow users to buy insurance through their mobile devices without any human intervention. AfriCover247’s chat box can manage real-time chat with customers and their offline inquiries round-the-clock.

Its API adaptability feature allows insurance and non-insurance firms to plug in their digital infrastructure to transact with businesses. Furthermore, it can manage users, their permissions and authorities within the system.

AfriGlobal Insurance Brokers managing director Casmir Azubuike said that the launch of AfriCover247 is a culmination of a two-year project that began just before the Covid-19 pandemic lockdown. According to him, the insurance industry in Nigeria was one of the worst hit by the pandemic, given that they were still trailing behind on digitisation of operations.

Azubuike said, “For us in Afriglobal, the experience further made us commit more efforts and resources not only to ensure the completion of the project but even to go for a very high-tech customer-friendly platform.” The result, he said saw to the AfriCover247 which spanned over 2 years, and “It took us so much time because we were resolute to getting it right.”

Highlighting that AfriCover247 is the first of its kind across application in the insurance industry in Nigeria, Azubuike added, “In terms of simplicity, user-friendliness and vastness, Africover247 is a one-stop-shop for all insurance services.

“It is gratifying to say that Afriglobal has scored another first as anybody anywhere in the globe can buy insurance and report claims via Africiver247,” he said, adding that users “can now buy insurance, have your policy documents delivered within few minutes as well as report and have your claims settled.”

Rasheed Abayomi, Zulfah Group’s MD, the technical partners to AfriCover247, said the portal has the potential to change the insurance landscape in the country. According to him, “the platform has an offer for all, including individuals of all demographics, corporate organization and technology-based companies”.

Abayomi listed some key features of AfriCover247 to include chatbox, administration, API adaptability, user experience benefits, loss report, claims processing and payment. “Forms and applications can be easily imported into the application and files uploaded in a variety of formats using drag and drop,” he said, just as the customer-centric platform has been designed to enable users to report their insurance claim from the comfort of their room and have same processed irrespective of normal working days disruptions in addition to relevant security in place.

Nigerian Council of Registered Insurance Brokers president Dr Bola Onigbogu said that with the introduction of AfriCover247, the insurance industry is ready to handle any unforeseen occurrence that may restrict human face-to-face interaction such as the Covid-19 pandemic.
