USAA Life Insurance has teamed with Human API to expand the use of digital health data in the life insurance underwriting process.
According to Coverager, this underwriting process expansion will be achieved through the implementation of Human API Health Intelligence Platform, including its patient portal network, APS retrieval services and HIPAA-authorised networks.
Coverager detailed that the Human API platform connects to 30,000+ data sources in the US, including EHR networks, HIEs, provider networks and more, providing digital health data access for over 13 million USAA members.
USAA Life senior VP and general manager, life insurance Chris Flint said, ?Human API platform further expands our ability to provide our members the best experience buying life insurance. We were the first company to use digital health data and are continually looking for ways to improve our processes??including increasing the percentage of medical records we can receive digitally, which cuts down on the time that it takes to get life insurance coverage.p>
USAA Life Insurance Company launched a digital life insurance product that requires no medical exam to 47 states in the US earlier this year.
The company expanded the availability of the product in response to increasing demand for a more simplified application process and lower prices.
According to USAA ?Life Cant Waitsurvey, monthly cost and no medical exam requirements are important factors to customers when deciding on a life insurance company. Approximately 58% of respondents said that cost was the single most important factor. Not requiring a medical exam was cited by 24% of respondents.
