dacadoo, a Swiss-based InsurTech focused on health scoring and lifestyle navigation, has teamed up with bEHR Health Systems, which focuses on increasing health literacy among African Americans.
This partnership is founded on a shared vision of improving health literacy and accessibility for African Americans. By utilizing dacadoo’s advanced Digital Health Engagement Platform, bEHR aims to provide culturally relevant, accessible health information and tools. This collaboration is dedicated to bridging the health-literacy gap and addressing the unique challenges faced by African American communities, particularly concerning age-related diseases and socio-economic disadvantages.
dacadoo is at the forefront of digital health innovation. Their technology enables users to understand their health better through a simplified health score, which considers factors like nutrition, activity, sleep, and mindfulness. Additionally, dacadoo offers digital coaching for maintaining healthy lifestyle habits.
On the other hand, bEHR Health Systems focuses on health education tailored to the African American community, emphasizing health equity and leveraging innovations in anti-aging and longevity.
The collaboration involves integrating dacadoo’s technology into bEHR’s health education programs. This integration will empower bEHR community members with personalized insights and actionable guidance to improve health outcomes. Both companies are committed to ongoing research and development, ensuring that the solutions provided remain technologically advanced and meet the community’s evolving needs.
dacadoo president and CEO, Peter Ohnemus, said, “At dacadoo we believe all humans have the right to great health. It is with great happiness that we can today announce the teamwork with bEHR for their community-centric approach to health education for African Americans. Health is all about education and understanding – what people can understand, they can improve. dacadoo is very proud to support bEHR with our baseline of understanding health through our platform and support better lives with our dacadoo health feedback loop.”
Kwame Terra, MPH, founder and CEO of bEHR Health Systems, added, “My first objective is to clearly communicate to the Black community our current health status. A significant challenge in our community is simply the lack of awareness about our health status, with 60% of African Americans having basic or below basic health literacy. By leveraging dacadoo’s health score technology, we are able to provide a simple, yet comprehensive solution to health literacy in the Black community.
“Early data from our efforts indicates that when individuals know their health score and understand how it compares to others, there is a heightened motivation to actively engage with preventative healthcare services and make positive changes to lifestyle habits. This underscores the transformative impact of empowering individuals with knowledge for better health outcomes within the Black community.”
