Matt Bonakdarpour takes the helm as president and CTO at Root Insurance

Root, established in 2015 and headquartered in Columbus, Ohio, is at the forefront of transforming the insurance industry through the application of data science and cutting-edge technology. Matt Bonakdarpour, with his profound background in computer science and statistics, has been a key figure at Root since 2018. His leadership and innovative strategies in implementing statistical machine learning for telematics risk scoring, pricing, and marketing have significantly contributed to Root’s success.

In his capacity as CTO, Bonakdarpour has led various teams including Data Science, Analytics, Engineering, IT, InfoSec, State Management, Marketing, and Pricing Actuarial. His promotion to President and CTO represents an expansion of his responsibilities, now overseeing the company’s strategic priorities and initiatives aimed at bolstering profitability and growth.
