MAPFRE USA has named Daniel Olohan to be the company’s new Chief Operating Officer, effective from August 1, 2024.

Olohan, who has a longstanding history with the company, will also be joining the Board of Directors of MAPFRE USA. This strategic move coincides with the promotion of the former COO, Jose Manuel Corral, to CEO of MAPFRE VIDA and General Manager of the Bancassurance Channel of MAPFRE ESPAÑA.

MAPFRE USA is part of the global insurance giant MAPFRE Group, which provides a wide range of insurance solutions and financial services across the United States. The company has been an established provider, known for its comprehensive approach to personal and commercial insurance products, adapting to various customer needs and market demands.

Daniel Olohan has been with MAPFRE USA since 2006, initially joining as General Counsel and Secretary in 2008. His extensive experience within the company, particularly overseeing legal and regulatory affairs, has equipped him with a deep understanding of the business and industry at large. His new role as COO will involve leading the operational strategy of the company, focusing on enhancing efficiency and maintaining excellence across all departments.

Jose Manuel Corral, the outgoing COO of MAPFRE USA, has been appointed to lead MAPFRE VIDA as its CEO starting August 2024. He will also manage the Bancassurance Channel for MAPFRE ESPAÑA. Corral has been with MAPFRE for over 30 years and has played a crucial role in navigating the company through challenging periods in the U.S. insurance sector.

In addition to his new COO role, Daniel Olohan’s appointment to the Board of Directors will further strengthen leadership ties within the company. Jose Manuel Corral will similarly join the Board of Directors of MAPFRE ESPAÑA, reinforcing his continued influence within the MAPFRE Group.

“Dan brings strong leadership and a deep understanding of MAPFRE USA’s business and the industry to this position,” said MAPFRE USA CEO Jaime Tamayo. “Having overseen our legal and regulatory affairs for many years, he is uniquely qualified and well-positioned to drive our operational strategy forward and ensure continued efficiency and excellence across the organization.”

“Jose Manuel has been instrumental in steering our operations through one of the most complex times in the history of the personal lines insurance market in the United States,” Jaime Tamayo added. “He has shown strong commitment to MAPFRE in the U.S. and has been a valued contributor to the organization in the last few years. We wish him the best in his new position.”
