MAPFRE, a global insurance and reinsurance company, has appointed Leire Jiménez as the new group chief innovation officer starting 1 September.
Jiménez will hold this role concurrently with her current position as CEO of MAWDY, MAPFRE’s assistance business unit.
She has been with MAPFRE for 20 years, brings extensive experience in the insurance industry to her new role. She has worked in various markets including the United Kingdom, France, and Asia, and has held multiple positions of responsibility within the company. Since 2019, she has been serving as the CEO of MAWDY.
Her deep knowledge of the insurance market, coupled with her strategic and managerial expertise, positions her well to lead MAPFRE’s innovation efforts. She is known for advocating the power of innovation as essential for business growth.
The appointment is part of MAPFRE’s broader transformation strategy aimed at enhancing service and value to customers.
This move underscores the company’s commitment to innovation through MAPFRE Open Innovation, a key strategic initiative for over six years. The initiative is now entering a new phase to align with the evolving industry, market trends, and societal changes.

Leire Jiménez succeeds José Antonio Arias, who continues in his role as group chief operational transformation officer.
