Sun Life US, a leading provider of insurance and employee benefits, has launched an enhanced claims integration system.
This update allows members to file a single claim to cover multiple benefits, simplifying the process and expanding access to crucial coverages, according to InsurTech Insights.
This new enhancement aims to streamline the often-complicated process of filing claims for different benefits.
By enabling members to submit just one claim for various coverages, Sun Life US intends to reduce administrative burdens and improve access to essential health benefits.
Sun Life US operates as a subsidiary of Sun Life Financial, a global financial services company with expertise in insurance, wealth management, and asset management.
In the U.S., the company specialises in employee benefits, offering products such as disability, supplemental health, stop-loss, and dental insurance.
The newly introduced feature connects Sun Life’s three major business lines: disability, supplemental health, and dental coverage.
For example, a member filing a short-term disability claim will also be eligible for related supplemental health benefits, such as hospital indemnity.
Similarly, those with stop-loss cancer coverage can also receive critical illness benefits without needing to file additional claims. Dental members enrolled in supplemental health can now receive wellness benefits for preventive care.
This enhancement builds on a prior system that allowed members to submit one claim for all applicable leave programs, including disability and state or federal leave.
The new system goes a step further by integrating claims across Sun Life’s biggest business segments, ensuring that members receive all eligible benefits automatically.
Bryan Burke, Assistant Vice President of Product Management and Development at Sun Life US commented, “Now, we can do the work for them and provide complete claims coverage across these products. The more we connect our claims data across products, the better we can serve our members and ensure they receive all of their benefits quickly and seamlessly.
“Data integration is the future of benefits, and we believe that when done securely and safely, it can vastly improve the benefits experience for workers everywhere.”
“Often, members do not realise they have enrolled in additional benefits that might also provide coverage for their health conditions,” remarked Joi Tillman, president, Group Benefits, Sun Life U.S.
