AXA, a global leader in insurance and asset management, has unveiled its latest mental health initiative, the Mind Health Self-check.

This launch underscores the company’s commitment to enhancing awareness and prevention of mental health challenges worldwide.

The impetus behind this new offering stems from alarming data shared by the World Health Organisation: mental health issues cost the global economy $1tn annually due to lost productivity, with 12bn working days lost each year to depression and anxiety.

AXA recognises the critical need to address these challenges by fostering awareness and promoting proactive mental health management among individuals, businesses, and society.

As a leading provider of insurance solutions, AXA focuses on managing and preventing risks. In this endeavour, it aims to shift societal perceptions of mental health, advocating for positive behaviours that foster fulfilment and resilience. This approach is central to its mission of addressing well-being, a key factor behind workplace absenteeism.

The Mind Health Self-check is a free, confidential, and anonymous tool designed to help users assess their mental well-being.

By answering a series of questions, individuals receive a personalised diagnosis and tailored advice to understand how factors like lifestyle, beliefs, and skills influence their mental health.

Available in 13 countries and 10 languages, the tool promotes self-awareness, encourages informed decision-making, and provides actionable recommendations for managing mental health proactively.

AXA’s broader objective with this tool is to de-stigmatise mental health issues and enable individuals to take charge of their well-being. The company hopes to empower users to develop positive mental health habits, furthering its mission to improve societal attitudes and support healthier communities.

Patrick Cohen, chief executive officer of AXA European Markets & Health, emphasised the company’s dedication to prevention and well-being: “This new tool is a resource for anyone looking to understand and improve their mental well-being. By providing information and personalised support, AXA intends to continue to support everyone with innovative solutions and dedicated support. Our role as an insurance company is to be on the front line of risk management and people’s health and well-being. This obviously involves compensation, but also and above all by strengthening prevention.”
