Ant Insurance, the online insurance brokerage platform of Ant Group, has reported significant growth in health insurance claims processed through its system.
The company, a leader in InsurTech innovation, has been working with partner insurers to improve accessibility and efficiency in the insurance sector through advanced digital solutions.
The increasing demand for healthcare services in China has led to the expansion of the insurance market. By 2035, more than 30% of China’s population—over 400 million people—will be aged 60 or older, according to the National Health Commission.
This demographic shift is driving a greater reliance on commercial health insurance to supplement the country’s basic medical system, necessitating innovations in claims processing and service efficiency.
Ant Group has been leveraging cutting-edge technology to drive digital transformation in healthcare, with insurance playing a critical role in this evolution.
Through AI-powered solutions, the company aims to streamline and enhance every stage of the insurance journey, from product selection to claims management.
In 2024, Ant Insurance’s AI-powered EasyClaims solution supported 85 health insurance products from 11 partner insurers, helping to process 7.25m health claims—a 55% increase year-over-year.
Total health claim payouts on the platform reached RMB 9.2bn ($1.3bn). AI-driven automation handled 96% of the 1.62m claims analysis requests, significantly reducing processing times and improving efficiency.
Beyond claims processing, Ant Insurance offers additional AI-driven features such as GoldenChoice, which utilises the Ant Insurance Multi-factor Model (AIMM) to compare and recommend the best insurance products. Another tool, EasyPick, provides personalized insurance planning to help users choose suitable coverage options without over-purchasing.
Further strengthening its technological capabilities, Ant Insurance introduced Ant Bridge in September 2024.
This open platform integrates AI models and financial intelligence, enabling insurers to deliver real-time, personalised responses to customer inquiries, enhancing service quality and operational efficiency.
Ant Group has also been playing a crucial role in China’s broader healthcare digitalisation efforts. Since launching the country’s first online hospital appointment booking service in 2014, its Alipay platform has facilitated the digital transformation of hospitals. As of January 2025, Alipay connects over 800m users with services from more than 3,600 hospitals.
In September 2024, Ant Group introduced the AI Healthcare Manager within Alipay, offering voice and text-based assistance for over 30 services, including doctor mapping, medical report interpretation, in-hospital navigation, and personalised medical advice. These initiatives contribute to optimising limited medical resources while supporting greater healthcare accessibility.
Ant Insurance CEO said, “Ant Insurance is committed to using AI and digital innovation to make insurance services more accessible and efficient. Through our solutions like EasyClaims and Ant Bridge, we are helping insurers enhance their operational capabilities and deliver better services to policyholders.”
