Monzo, a leading UK-based digital bank, has announced the launch of Monzo Home Insurance, a combined buildings and contents insurance policy designed to offer UK homeowners a simpler and more flexible way to protect their property and belongings.
The launch of Monzo Home Insurance follows rising consumer demand for more intuitive and adaptable insurance solutions.
Homeowners have long faced rigid, annual insurance contracts and complex sign-up processes, which can result in unnecessary charges and inflexibility when plans change. With this product, Monzo aims to reduce those pain points and meet the evolving needs of its customer base.
Founded with the mission to make money work for everyone, Monzo offers a range of financial products through its award-winning app.
From current accounts and savings pots to budgeting tools and loan offerings, the bank has grown into a major player in the FinTech space by prioritising user-friendly experiences and transparent financial management.
Monzo Home Insurance expands on the company’s existing suite of protection products. It allows customers to take out both buildings and contents cover directly through the Monzo app, offering insurance that adapts to the customer’s lifestyle and needs.
The product can be customised with optional add-ons, and policy changes can be made at any time without incurring additional fees.
Among the standout features are the ability to get covered in minutes by answering just six core questions, real-time pricing updates when tailoring policies, and full in-app control to adjust or cancel cover freely.
Claims can be made over the phone, and a future update will enable full in-app claims management, including status tracking and detailed explanations throughout the process.
The product provides up to £1m in cover for damage from events such as floods, fires, or natural disasters. It also includes protection for theft and accidental damage to belongings, both inside and outside the home.
Extras such as cover for high-value items, emergency call-outs and accidental damage can be added for greater customisation. Monzo has confirmed that the product will be rolled out to all eligible customers over the coming weeks.
Following the successful rollout of Monzo Contents Insurance in April, the introduction of the combined Home Insurance marks another step in the company’s broader strategy to expand its protection offerings.
Monzo head of insurance Phoebe Hugh said, “Your home is your biggest asset and protecting it shouldn’t be a headache. Our customers told us that they wanted something simpler – cover that actually fits their lives and changes when they do. So we’ve introduced a fully flexible Home Insurance which makes it simple for homeowners to get the cover they need, change it at any time and manage their claims – all within the Monzo app. In line with our mission to make money work for everyone, we’re already deep into developing our next protection products, to bring the Monzo simplicity to every aspect of insurance.”
