Sixfold, a leading underwriting AI company, specialising in Life & Health (L&H) insurance solutions, has announced a significant upgrade to its L&H product with the introduction of Condition-Based Insights and Core Clinical Data, designed to transform underwriting processes.
The new product has been launched to address challenges faced by underwriters when evaluating applicants’ medical information from disparate sources, according to FF News.
By improving speed, accuracy, and consistency, Sixfold aims to help insurers make better-informed decisions and grow premiums more efficiently.
Sixfold develops AI-powered solutions that support Life & Health underwriters in evaluating complex medical data. Its platform combines structured medical information from various sources, helping insurers understand applicants’ health histories quickly and accurately. The company’s technology focuses on automating repetitive data analysis tasks, reducing manual effort, and improving overall underwriting efficiency.
The upgraded L&H product now provides Condition-Based Insights, giving underwriters a complete view of an applicant’s medical condition. This allows them to connect related diagnoses, treatments, and procedures, understanding the context, severity, and progression of conditions. Core Clinical Data standardises results for vital signs, cardiovascular health, and hematology, showing normal ranges and trends over time. The result is faster, fairer, and more consistent underwriting decisions.
The upgrade also improves performance across key areas, including faster case reviews, clearer lab insights, and more accurate and consistent underwriting outcomes. By automatically connecting the dots in a patient’s medical history, Sixfold reduces manual review time and supports fairer decisions, while helping insurers write more premiums.
Early adopter Guardian, one of the largest life insurers in the U.S., has reported a 50% reduction in case review time using Sixfold’s technology. Guardian achieved this by cutting manual data gathering and accelerating Disability underwriting, and plans to expand the technology across additional lines.
Sixfold CEO Alex Schmelkin said, “Underwriters shouldn’t have to play detective with medical records. By now integrating a conditions-based experience and relevant clinical health data into the overall assessment, they get a full picture of each case, instantly. This reduces manual review time, increases accuracy, and helps insurers write more premiums.”
Schmelkin added, “We’re building AI that mirrors how underwriters actually think by connecting the dots across medical facts to present the full health story. What used to take hours to piece together manually, they are now able to see in minutes.”
