Google, the global technology giant, has announced the launch of a new device protection program, Pixel Care+.

The launch of Pixel Care+ comes as Google aims to streamline and enhance its device protection offerings in the U.S., replacing the previous Google Preferred Care and Fi Device Protection programmes, according to TechCrunch.

Current monthly subscribers of these programmes will be transitioned to the new Pixel Care+ plan in the coming months.

Google provides a wide range of hardware products, including smartphones, smartwatches, tablets, and wearable devices.

Its offerings include the Pixel smartphone line, the Pixel Watch, the Pixel Tablet, and Fitbit devices, which Google acquired in 2021. The company is also known for its software services like Google Search, Gmail, and Google Cloud.

Pixel Care+ offers a comprehensive suite of protection services for eligible Google devices. The programme covers unlimited claims for accidental damage, extended warranty claims, and mechanical damage.

It includes $0 costs for screen and battery repairs, $0 post-warranty malfunction claims, genuine Google parts and replacements, priority support from Pixel experts, and self-service claims via the Google Store website. Additionally, optional coverage for loss and theft is available.

Users of Pixel Care+ benefit from free upgraded shipping on replacements, including next-day shipping, making device repair and replacement faster and more convenient.

Pricing varies depending on the device; for instance, Pixel Care+ for the Pixel 10 is available at $10 per month or $199 for a two-year plan.

Pixel Care+ is available for new eligible devices in the U.S. from Wednesday, covering the Pixel 8 and later, Pixel Watch 2 and later, Pixel Tablet, and Fitbit devices such as the Fitbit Ace LTE, Fitbit Versa 4, Fitbit Sense 2, Fitbit Charge 6, and Fitbit Inspire 3.

The programme can be added within 60 days of device purchase, and claims can be initiated either via the Google Store or directly in the My Pixel App, with users able to select a preferred location and time for repairs.

Google CEO Sundar Pichai said, “Pixel Care+ provides a higher level of coverage, service, and peace of mind for Google hardware owners.”
