Allianz UK, one of the country’s largest general insurers, has announced a partnership with Evoque Group Limited, a supplier specialising in zero-to-landfill solutions, to advance sustainability across its claims management processes.
The collaboration is designed to embed environmental responsibility into Allianz’s commercial property claims handling, according to InsurTech Insights.
By partnering with Evoque, the insurer aims to reduce waste, salvage more items, and support its wider strategy to operate more sustainably.
Evoque will initially work with Allianz’s commercial property claims team. The company will assess claim-related items to determine which can be salvaged, resold, repurposed or recycled through environmentally responsible methods. Items that cannot be recovered will be disposed of in a way that minimises environmental impact. When salvage is viable, the net value after fees and costs will be credited back to the claim, reducing overall claims costs for customers.
Allianz UK provides a range of insurance products and services across both personal and commercial lines, with a focus on customer service and long-term sustainability. Evoque, meanwhile, is a specialist in sustainable disposal and zero to landfill recycling solutions. The company’s operations centre on diverting waste from landfill through reuse, resale and repurposing strategies.
In 2024, Evoque diverted 3.3m kilograms of waste from landfill, generating an estimated 7,500 metric tonnes of CO₂ savings. The company has set a 2025 target of increasing diversion to 6m kilograms, with strategic partnerships such as the one with Allianz playing a central role in achieving this.
While the initiative launches with commercial property claims, Allianz has plans to expand the model to other claims categories. The insurer said this will allow it to align financial outcomes for customers with measurable environmental benefits.
Matt Cox, Allianz UK chief claims officer, said, “Allianz puts a great emphasis on working sustainably and I am excited that we can add our partnership with Evoque to the work we have been doing across claims as part of our sustainability focus. Property salvage strategies are not consistent across the industry, so this is an opportunity for us to lead the way and enable our customers to act more sustainably too.”
