Cigna Healthcare, the American multinational managed healthcare and insurance company, has launched Clearity, a copay-only health plan designed to remove deductibles and coinsurance while showing members exactly what they owe before booking a visit.
The plan uses Cigna’s AI technology to help members check coverage, estimate bills, and navigate care options with verified reviews and transparent copay data, according to beinsure.
Clearity comes in five designs with tiered in-network copays and one tier for out-of-network care, all operating on the Open Access Plus network to maintain broad access rather than narrowing choices.
The launch addresses a long-standing issue in the health insurance sector: unexpected medical bills and complex benefits can discourage employees from seeking care. The plan is intended to offer more predictable costs for both members and employers.
Eva Borden, chief product officer of Cigna Healthcare’s U.S. Employer business, said: “Clearity by Cigna Healthcare is more than a health plan – it’s a simpler, more predictable way for customers to get the health care they need.”
Erin Lenox, president of national accounts for Cigna Healthcare’s U.S. Employer business, added: “From tech-savvy employees and healthy individuals who prefer pay-as-you-go options to those who may skip care due to high deductibles and financial barriers, Clearity by Cigna Healthcare offers a better path to care.”
The plan pairs Cigna’s AI assistant with natural language tools, allowing members to ask for what they need in plain language. It also calculates total out-of-pocket costs before visits, aiming to eliminate surprise bills.
Cigna positions Clearity as more than a traditional health plan, offering a transparent, technology-driven solution for employees and employers seeking simplicity and predictability in healthcare.
