Aon and DataRobot partner to deploy agentic AI in insurance workflows

Aon, a global professional services firm, and DataRobot, an enterprise AI platform provider focused on operationalising artificial intelligence at scale, have announced a collaboration centred on applying agentic AI to selected insurance onboarding and servicing workflows.

The partnership has been formed to explore how autonomous, reasoning-based AI agents can be embedded into everyday insurance operations while preserving robust human oversight, according to Beinsure.

Both firms are seeking to demonstrate how AI-led decision execution can coexist with governance, review and accountability, a balance that is increasingly viewed by insurers as a requirement rather than a discretionary technology choice.

Under the collaboration, Aon plans to deploy the DataRobot Agent Workforce Platform across defined stages of the insurance lifecycle. Initial use cases will focus on client onboarding and ongoing servicing activities, areas that are traditionally resource-intensive and prone to delays. The model shifts routine execution towards AI-driven processes, while Aon colleagues retain responsibility for validation, control and final decision-making.

Aon operates across risk advisory, insurance brokerage and human capital services, supporting organisations as they navigate complex risk, workforce and people-related challenges.

The firm has been investing in AI-focused technology to create more meaningful client engagement and to improve how businesses assess risk and workforce decisions, particularly in highly regulated and data-heavy environments such as insurance.

DataRobot provides an AI platform designed to help enterprises build, deploy and govern AI systems across their operations. Its Agent Workforce Platform enables organisations to introduce always-on AI agents that can handle documentation, servicing and other back-office workflows, while maintaining transparency and control throughout the AI lifecycle.

The initiative targets two operational workflows viewed internally by Aon as value-critical. Onboarding efforts are focused on consolidating historical documents, policy records and binders to accelerate new placements and renewals. Servicing work is concentrated on certificate generation, invoice processing timelines and automated ID card issuance, all areas long associated with friction and manual handling.

Beyond immediate efficiency gains, the collaboration reflects Aon’s broader approach to responsible AI adoption, with governance and human supervision embedded at every stage. Clients have already tested elements of these AI-supported features for more than a year, providing feedback on workflow visibility and decision support as the scope continues to expand.

Aon chief operating officer Mindy Simon said, “Our collaboration with DataRobot is an important part of that strategy. By thoughtfully introducing AI agents into onboarding and servicing workflows, we aim to help clients experience faster turnaround times, increased consistency and greater transparency – all while maintaining our personal relationships and deep industry expertise that define Aon.”

DataRobot CEO Debanjan Saha said, “Powered by the DataRobot Agent Workforce Platform, Aon plans to deploy AI Agents across documentation, servicing and other back-office workflows. Aon aims to accelerate service and elevate the client experience – a bold, strategic shift that shows how AI can modernise core operations and strengthen service delivery in a complex industry. It underscores Aon’s leadership in embracing AI as a lever for transformation and setting a new standard for innovation across the sector.”
