Kin launches AI-driven home insurance coverage in Oklahoma

Kin, a digital home insurance provider, has expanded into Oklahoma, offering homeowners a new option for personalised coverage designed for the state’s severe weather risks.

The move marks Kin’s entry into a market where a small number of insurers dominate the homeowners insurance sector and new entrants have been rare in recent years.

The company says its approach uses detailed property data and advanced risk modelling to assess each home individually, allowing coverage and pricing to reflect the specific risks associated with the property.

Sean Harper, Founder and CEO of Kin, said, “Oklahoma hasn’t seen a new home insurer enter in years, and a small number of companies control most of the market. That’s not a great setup for homeowners.

We’re entering the state with a different approach — competitive pricing, dynamic risk management and a real appetite to grow — so people have more choice and competitive options.”

Oklahoma homeowners face some of the most severe weather conditions in the United States, including tornadoes, damaging hail and high-velocity winds.

The state recorded 152 tornadoes in 2024, the highest annual total on record, while also being one of the most hail-prone regions in the country.

Kin says its underwriting approach evaluates thousands of data points for each property to generate more accurate risk assessments.

Harper added, “For too long, homeowners in Oklahoma have been priced based on broad assumptions instead of the reality of their individual homes. We think that’s fundamentally wrong.

By looking at thousands of data points on each property, we can offer coverage that’s accurate, transparent and fair — especially for homeowners who’ve invested in making their homes more resilient.”

Kin combines AI-driven technology with human support across the insurance lifecycle, from instant quotes to claims handling following severe weather events.

Angel Conlin, Chief Insurance Officer at Kin, said, “Oklahoma homeowners face some of the most challenging weather in the country — and they deserve an insurance partner built to meet that head-on, with the speed and accuracy that matters most when it counts.

Kin simplifies the insurance process — from receiving an instant quote to navigating the claims process after a storm. Our goal is to be the most reliable partner Oklahoma homeowners have ever had. We’re there for customers before, during and after the storm.”

With the Oklahoma launch, Kin now operates in 14 US states, including Alabama, Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas and Virginia.

Together, these markets represent more than 50% of the total addressable market for home insurance in the United States.

The company also reports strong customer satisfaction scores, including 4.7 out of 5 on Google reviews, an A+ rating from the Better Business Bureau and an “Excellent” rating of 4.8 out of 5 on Trustpilot as of April 2026.
