Generali China Insurance and Solera have partnered to accelerate the rollout of AI-driven claims and electric vehicle solutions across the Chinese insurance market.

The partnership will focus on developing intelligent motor insurance claims capabilities, including technology designed to calculate CO₂ emissions on every claim as insurers face growing pressure to improve sustainability and claims efficiency, according to Insurance Asia.

Generali China and Solera said the agreement supports China’s 15th Five-Year Plan, which prioritises the expansion of new energy vehicles, green transportation and intelligent industries as part of the country’s broader economic strategy.

Under the partnership, Solera will deploy its AI-powered claims technology to help improve claims accuracy, operational efficiency and environmental outcomes across motor insurance workflows.

The companies said the initiative is also intended to suppoart the insurance sector’s shift away from replacement-first claims models towards greener and more cost-effective repair approaches.

As China’s electric vehicle market continues to expand rapidly, the agreement also creates a framework for collaboration between Solera, Generali and startups developing EV-focused technologies and services.

The partnership will cover areas including AI-driven motor claims assessment, battery assessment technology and access to Solera’s battery repair partner network, with the aim of building more sustainable EV aftermarket and claims processes.

The companies added that the collaboration will also involve joint research into green transportation trends and participation in green insurance industry initiatives and events.

The agreement reflects growing insurer investment in AI-powered claims technology as carriers seek to manage rising EV complexity, improve claims automation and address sustainability goals across the motor insurance sector.
