Previsico, the live flood forecasting InsurTech spun out of Loughborough University, has named Mark Trumper as its new chief executive officer to drive the company’s next phase of growth and international expansion.
Trumper takes the helm from outgoing chief executive Jonathan Jackson, who is stepping down from his full-time executive role following a period of significant growth and innovation at the company. Jackson will remain involved with the business through the transition period and beyond.
Trumper joins from Axco Insurance Information, where he served as managing director for five years, building a track record of delivering financial and operational performance across the insurance sector.
In his new role, he will be responsible for setting the company’s strategy, overseeing operations, and scaling Previsico across the UK, with a particular focus on accelerating its push into the US and other international markets.
Founded in 2019 as a spinout from Loughborough University, Previsico draws on more than two decades of academic research to deliver real-time flood forecasting technology. Its platform combines proprietary live forecasting tools, IoT sensors, and hyperlocal hydrodynamic modelling to provide early warnings of surface water flooding with up to 48 hours’ notice.
The company serves major insurers including Zurich, Liberty and Generali, large corporations such as Rail Track and United Utilities, global brokers including Marsh, and government agencies.
Previsico outgoing chief executive Jonathan Jackson said: “Previsico has reached an exciting stage in its journey and I am delighted to be handing over the business as it evolves into a true scale-up organisation. Mark brings a wealth of experience, strong insurance market connections, and a great track record of leadership, and I look forward to supporting him during the transition and beyond.”
Previsico chairman David Marock said: “As a market-leading flood forecaster, we are delighted to welcome Mark as CEO. He is a wonderful successor to Jonathan and brings exactly the right leadership experience to guide the business into its next chapter. On behalf of the Board, I would also like to thank Jonathan for his outstanding contribution as CEO, and we are pleased he will continue to remain involved in support of Mark and the wider business.”
Previsico incoming chief executive Mark Trumper said: “I am thrilled to join Previsico at this exciting time of international expansion, following great traction gained with UK insurers and corporations, and early success in the US.”
