Allianz Partners, a global heavyweight in B2B2C insurance and assistance services, has entered a strategic European alliance with Joybuy, JD.com’s newly launched online shopping platform, to embed device and appliance cover directly into the online purchasing process.
Under the agreement, shoppers using Joybuy in Germany, France, the Benelux countries and the UK will be able to add insurance to a wide array of consumer electronics purchases, spanning items such as smartphones, gadgets and household appliances. Three types of cover will be on offer: protection against accidental damage, cover for theft, and extended warranty services.
The tie-up represents a notable widening of the relationship between Allianz Group and JD.com, which stretches back to 2018 when the two firms established AllianzJD, a joint venture operating in China. The new European arrangement takes that collaboration onto the global stage.
