RockRose Risk, the insurance brokerage that rewards property owners for reducing wildfire exposure, has completed a $12.5m Series A round.
The financing was jointly led by Crosslink Capital and Congruent Ventures, with backing from Nuveen Real Estate, a major institutional investor overseeing more than $136bn in commercial property assets.
With the fresh capital, RockRose Risk is shifting from a pure brokerage into a fully integrated risk management provider, bringing together automated property inspections, mitigation work and insurance coverage under one roof.
The firm intends to grow this offering through acquisitions of businesses such as tree-clearing and roofing contractors, allowing clients to handle risk assessment, mitigation and cover through a single provider rather than juggling multiple vendors. The company frames this as a new approach to insuring against wildfire, aimed at cutting the overall expense of safeguarding property.
The capital injection arrives as wildfire losses continue to climb sharply across the western United States. Figures from the National Interagency Fire Center show that the area burned so far in 2026 already exceeds the total for the whole of 2025, even before the season reaches its most active months. At the same time, insurers have been pulling back cover in fire-exposed areas, driving a wave of non-renewals across the three states where RockRose Risk currently operates: California, Colorado and Nevada.
RockRose Risk’s client base spans homeowners’ associations, hotel chains, vineyards, agricultural operations, retail centres, local governments and commercial property portfolios throughout its core markets.
RockRose Risk co-founder and CEO Andrew Engler said, “We’ve proven our model works.
“By combining on-the-ground property assessments, mitigation expertise, and proprietary technology, we’ve driven fundamentally better insurance outcomes. Our next step is to get insurance to operate within holistic systems, just as nature does. Wildfires don’t obey the rules of financial modeling or zip codes alone. We’re making insurance adapt to the rules of a new game: that of a rapidly changing planet.”
Congruent Ventures partner Eliza Cushman said, “Wildfire has fundamentally fractured insurance markets, creating a widespread availability and pricing crisis.
“RockRose has built the AI-native brokerage that ties insurance outcomes directly to property mitigation, so that properties can get more resilient and more insurable. We’re thrilled to co-lead the Series A and support the company’s rapid growth.”
