Vertafore unveils Agentic Agency and four new AI agents

Vertafore, an insurance distribution technology provider, has launched its Agentic Agency strategy alongside four new Velocity AI agents built to operate inside the workflows of independent agencies.

The Agentic Agency is Vertafore’s plan to help independent agencies reach what it calls Distribution Velocity by removing the obstacles that hold back work across their operations. According to the company, the core value of the independent agency is unchanged. However, a large share of agency capacity is now lost to peripheral tasks such as shifting data between platforms, hunting through documents, re-entering and verifying information, and handling routine servicing and accounting jobs.

To tackle this, Vertafore is building AI into the tools and processes that agencies already rely on, covering sales, submissions, servicing, accounting, intelligence and day-to-day support. The Velocity AI agents are designed to absorb more of the workload within these processes and hand over to staff when human judgement, expertise and relationships are needed.

The strategy covers the entire agency lifecycle through several workstreams. Digital Producer agents speed up prospecting, placement, renewals and producer follow-ups. Smart Submissions agents assemble submissions ready for carriers, compare quotes, create proposals and check issued policies.

Agentic Servicer agents handle requests, certificates, endorsements, cancellations and renewal preparation automatically. Accounting Automation agents manage direct bill, agency bill, bank reconciliation and contingency management. Supporting all of these, AI Enablers boost usability and data quality within an agency’s core systems, while Business Intelligence agents draw growth insights from book, pipeline and performance data.

The four newly announced agents, which run on the Velocity AI Platform, focus on policy servicing, document research and general agency operations. They are currently being used by early adopters and are due to become generally available this year.

The Velocity Document Intelligence Agent uses AI to locate relevant material across documents and other content, then combines it into a single clear response. It sits within ImageRight, Vertafore’s document and workflow management product for agencies, MGAs and carriers. Early adopter testing indicates it can reduce document review time by as much as 90%, and general availability is planned for September 2026.

The Velocity Coach Agent answers product and how-to queries within Vertafore’s AMS360 and Sagitta agency management systems. It draws on product and agency documentation as well as standard operating procedures to give users instant answers. Vertafore says users can cut the time spent looking for answers by up to 88%.

The Velocity Policy Intake Agent converts information from source documents into policy data for commercial lines. It reads and extracts the details, maps them to the agency management system (AMS), updates the AMS, files the supporting documents and produces an audit-ready activity log. The company says agencies can complete policy intake up to 87% faster as a result.

The Velocity Policy Check Agent spots policy discrepancies by comparing policy documents with AMS data and other records, then recommends fixes. Users decide which corrections to approve, and the agent carries them out.

The Coach, Policy Intake and Policy Check agents are all expected to become generally available in early autumn.

Vertafore also gave an early look at upcoming Smart Submissions features. The Velocity Data Collection Agent will identify and organise information from incoming documents and highlight gaps in submission data. The Velocity Carrier Routing Agent will offer AI-based guidance on suitable markets, taking into account carrier appetite, agency behaviour and agency strategy. Both agents are expected to join early adopter programmes this winter.

Vertafore chief AI officer James Thom said, “Distribution Velocity is about removing friction and accomplishing intentional outcomes across the agency—not just making individual tasks faster.

“The Agentic Agency is our vision for what that looks like in the AI era. Technology takes on work across connected workflows and delivers intelligent insights, so agency professionals have more capacity to create value for their clients and grow their business.”

Vertafore CEO Amy Zupon said, “Independent agencies have always created value through their expertise, judgment and trusted relationships.

“Those strengths have become even more important in the AI era. The Agentic Agency is about using AI to take on more of the manual and repetitive work, surface the information and decisions that need attention, and give agency professionals more time to apply their expertise where it matters most.”
