Akur8 unveils expert AI agents for insurance pricing

Akur8, the global actuarial AI platform, has introduced Akur8 Agents, a new offering that embeds expert guidance and no-code automation into the day-to-day workflows of actuaries.

The initial release, Akur8 Agents for pricing, aims to speed up complex pricing tasks by taking on repetitive work, highlighting useful insights and making actuarial know-how more accessible.

The agents operate inside the Akur8 platform and were developed by actuaries with their peers in mind. Users keep full authority over their analyses and final decisions. While the agents can interact with the platform and advise on how to get the most from it, Akur8’s existing actuarial and statistical tools still carry out the mathematical and modelling work. Actuaries stay accountable for checking outputs, interpreting findings and applying professional judgement.

In practical terms, the pricing agents can assemble pricing structures, generate reports using reusable templates, craft formulas suited to specific modelling requirements, verify how variables are used before modelling starts and incorporate filed rates into rating analyses. They can also migrate rating logic held in spreadsheets and other formats into Akur8 through a process that is adaptable and open to review. Beyond this, the agents link information across projects, summarise activity, uncover context that is difficult to locate and assist with building visualisations. Guidance on Akur8 and insurance best practice is delivered within the workflow, kept current with software updates and offered in several languages.

Rather than requiring insurers to construct an agent system from scratch, Akur8 provides targeted agents tied to the tools and capabilities customers already rely on. These sit on top of the firm’s cloud-native infrastructure, machine learning architecture and actuarial engines. Akur8’s actuarial and product teams curate the agents, which draw on technology used by more than 3,000 actuaries globally.

Each Akur8 pricing module comes with its own dedicated agent. Teams can then customise it using prebuilt expert skill templates or their own skills without writing code, and can configure global memory and instructions so the agent applies shared guidance across every conversation.

The offering rests on four principles: actuarial expertise, explainable work under human control, native integration with Akur8’s engines, and enterprise-grade trust. Users can trace the reasoning behind results, inspect and amend outputs, and sign off on changes before they are executed. Customer data is never used to train AI models, and the product complies with the EU AI Act.

Akur8 intends to extend its expert agents into reserving and life, applying the same model to further actuarial workflows.

The platform supports insurers of every size across property and casualty as well as life and annuity markets. It counts more than 350 customers in over 40 countries, among them AXA, Generali, Munich Re, Tokio Marine and MS&AD.

Akur8 Agents for pricing are being showcased at ITC Vegas 2026.

Akur8 CEO and co-founder Sam Falmagne said, “The next stage of actuarial AI is not about replacing actuaries or asking them to hand their work over to a black box. It’s about giving them expert agents that can organize repeatable work, guide complex processes, and make the full power of the Akur8 platform easier to use. With Akur8 Agents, the actuarial engines continue to do the mathematical computations, actuaries continue to make the decisions, and the agents help bring everything together more efficiently, transparently, and securely.”
