Spanish InsurTech Bdeo has launched Vonage’s Quality on Demand (QoD) Network API in full commercial production, bringing network-prioritisation technology into insurance claims and underwriting workflows in one of its earliest enterprise deployments worldwide.
The integration combines Vonage’s QoD, Video and Messages APIs to help insurers collect damage evidence remotely and accelerate claims assessments. Policyholders receive a link through RCS or SMS, allowing them to submit photos and videos of damaged vehicles or property. They can also connect with loss adjusters through live video sessions, reducing the need for in-person inspections.
Vonage’s QoD technology monitors network conditions and adjusts connectivity prioritisation when video quality drops below the level required for reliable evidence capture. The process runs in the background, requiring no intervention from policyholders or insurers. This is particularly relevant when claimants record damage at accident scenes or in areas with heavy traffic, where network conditions can be inconsistent.
Higher-quality footage also supports Bdeo’s AI-powered visual intelligence tools by providing clearer images for damage analysis. This can improve assessment accuracy, reduce the number of claims requiring manual intervention and help insurers shorten settlement times. Consistent digital evidence can also strengthen audit trails and support insurers’ documentation and compliance requirements.
Founded in 2017, Bdeo develops AI technology that analyses images and videos to support insurance claims and underwriting. The company works with more than 50 insurers across over 25 countries in Europe and Latin America. Its customers include eight of Spain’s 10 largest motor insurers, and the company handles more than half of motor insurance underwriting in the Spanish market.
Vonage, which is part of Ericsson, provides communications and network APIs alongside communications platform as a service (CPaaS), contact centre as a service (CCaaS) and unified communications as a service (UCaaS) offerings.
Bdeo CTO Rafael Castillo said, “Filing an insurance claim is rarely a simple experience — Bdeo set out to change that. Our organisation wanted to create a solution to minimise what can be a stressful time. Vonage gave us everything we needed in one place — global coverage, a robust API infrastructure, and the ability to bring video, network, and messaging together through a single provider. That consolidation was essential for a company like Bdeo, operating across multiple countries and carrier environments. By combining stable, high-quality video with a faster, more streamlined process, we’re turning a difficult moment into a simpler, more positive experience for policyholders, while helping insurers reduce claims cycle times, improve the accuracy of their assessments, and meet compliance standards more consistently.”
Vonage head of solution area, network powered solutions Kunal Shukla added, “Programmable connectivity is no longer just a vision of the future; it’s here today, transforming the way businesses operate and innovate. Insurance claims happen during some of life’s most worrying moments, and Bdeo is using Vonage APIs to make those moments easier for policyholders around the world. By combining our network-powered solutions, video, and messaging capabilities with carrier-grade QoD, Bdeo is able to deliver faster claims processing, more accurate AI-driven assessments, and stronger compliance documentation in live production today.”
