Guidewire launches platform for agentic insurance

Guidewire, the cloud platform provider for property and casualty (P&C) insurers, has unveiled a new platform-based approach to agentic insurance, designed to help carriers move AI beyond isolated pilots and into governed, production-ready agents spanning underwriting, claims and data operations.

Rather than treating AI as a bolt-on, Guidewire runs its agents on the same platform that hosts its core applications, so they operate with an insurer’s existing data, workflows and controls. For agents to be effective, the company says, they must understand what is true, what actions have already been taken and what they are permitted to do. The platform’s controls enforce these limits through consistent security and an audit trail that stays secure and up to date as updates are rolled out.

On the underwriting side, the firm aims to shorten the journey from product idea to market launch. Its Advanced Product Designer lets product managers take products from concept to market-ready status in days, supported by impact analysis, gap detection and explainable recommendations.

PricingCenter enables actuaries to turn complex pricing models into live rates within days while keeping portfolio impact in view, with native links to PolicyCenter. A Risk Accumulation App maps concentration and exposure by peril, from individual submissions to the full book, while UnderwritingCenter converts raw submissions into clear risk profiles, aligns them with appetite and passes quotes directly into PolicyCenter. ProNavigator provides underwriters with submission summaries, risk insights and next-best actions.

For claims, Concierge lets claimants interact with autonomous agents via voice or chat, capturing full loss details and passing decision-ready claims to ClaimCenter. ProNavigator also supports adjusters with answers and recommended actions, and a Workers’ Compensation Solution connects claims work with digital tools and AI to help injured employees recover more quickly.

Technical teams are supported by an Agentic Framework, which allows insurers to deploy Guidewire-built agents or develop their own, choose a model per task, apply guardrails, assess behaviour and track costs. Additional tools include Developer Assistants, preconfigured DevSpace cloud environments, the Guidewire Data Platform uniting policy, claims and billing data, Data Studio and Explore with curated P&C datasets, and Kaleidoscope, which uses federated learning so predictive models train where data sits without records being moved. Some features are limited to Early Access customers or form part of the company’s roadmap, and availability may vary by region.

The company has also built AI into its professional services implementation methodology, significantly cutting migration and implementation timelines.

Guidewire CEO Mike Rosenbaum said, “Insurance is a business of decisions and actions made in context.

“By embedding agentic capabilities where insurers already run their core operations, Guidewire gives agents the context and controls they need to work with speed and precision on a proven durable foundation.”

Guidewire chief product development officer Diego Devalle said, “We took a platform approach to AI, so agents run on the same platform as the core, with access to an insurer’s context, data, and workflows.

“The scalability and observability that already support the core now support agents too. That is why insurers can put them to work on live claims and policies, and why developers can build on the same open foundation.”
