HDI Global, a leading provider of industrial insurance, has announced plans to expand its environmental liability insurance offerings to international markets.
The expansion follows the company’s appointment of Stefan Pasternak as its new chief financial officer (CFO), effective 1 April 2025, according to InsurTech Insights.
The current CFO, Christian Hermelingmeier, will transition to the CFO role at Hannover Re on the same date.
HDI Global aims to address the growing complexity of environmental risks and increasing regulatory pressures faced by businesses worldwide.
The company’s environmental liability coverage, which is currently available in Italy, Portugal, and Spain, will soon include additional optional social and governance (S&G) coverages.
This positions HDI Global as the first insurer to provide comprehensive ESG (environmental, social, and governance) liability coverage tailored to the evolving needs of its global clientele.
The company’s expanded ESG product will help clients navigate their sustainability journeys by offering protection against potential costs arising from social and governance risks.
A dedicated ESG Risk Solutions Team, comprising 17 experts and led by Mark Appleton, Head of Liability Global, will oversee the delivery of these services. Appleton reports directly to Mukadder Erdönmez, a member of the HDI Global SE Executive Board.
Erdönmez emphasized the company’s commitment to addressing the dynamic ESG landscape, stating, “We are pioneering these solutions for our clients and broker partners to meet the heightened demands of both an evolving risk landscape and accelerating regulatory pressures. The ever-changing ESG environment makes it essential for HDI Global to adapt our insurance solutions and enable our clients to keep focus on their core business.”
The newly enhanced offering is designed to provide clients with compliant third- and first-party coverage globally, ensuring businesses can mitigate ESG risks while focusing on their operational goals.
