KatRisk, a leading provider of catastrophic risk modelling software for the insurance and financial services industries, has acquired Gamma in a move to expand its risk analytics capabilities and strengthen its global presence.
The acquisition aims to integrate Gamma’s expertise in geospatial data and property-level visualisation with KatRisk’s advanced catastrophe modelling tools.
While the financial terms of the deal have not been disclosed, the transaction is positioned as a strategic growth move to enhance KatRisk’s product offering and deepen its global market reach.
KatRisk is renowned for its high-resolution risk models focused on floods, storms, and wildfires. The company serves insurers, reinsurers, and financial services firms globally, providing cutting-edge analytics that support better risk selection, underwriting efficiency, and loss ratio reduction.
Gamma, best known for its Perilfinder™ platform, delivers property-level risk insights through map-based dashboards and spatial analytics. Developed in collaboration with some of the world’s largest general insurers, Perilfinder™ supports underwriting, exposure management, and risk assessment through highly granular address-level data.
The acquisition will allow KatRisk to integrate Gamma’s Perilfinder™ into its suite of tools, combining location intelligence with catastrophe risk models. This will offer insurers the ability to visualise exposure to various perils—including flood, wind, and wildfire—at the property level, significantly improving decision-making processes for underwriting and portfolio management.
The deal also marks a continued commitment by KatRisk to invest in innovation and global expansion. The company, along with wildfire modelling firm Technosylva, benefits from the backing of private equity firms TA Associates and General Atlantic BeyondNetZero, reinforcing its mission to deliver data-driven climate resilience solutions on a global scale.
KatRisk EVP of strategy Brandon Katz said, “Our acquisition of Gamma is a major step forward in our mission to provide the most comprehensive, high-resolution risk data available. By combining our catastrophic risk models across floods, storms, and fire with Gamma’s location intelligence capabilities, we will deliver an even more powerful suite of tools that improves risk selection, reduces loss ratios, and enhances underwriting efficiency.”
Gamma CEO Feargal O’Neill said, “The combination of Gamma and KatRisk represents an exciting opportunity for our customers and partners. Joining KatRisk gives us access to the world’s leading catastrophe modelers, while opening global markets for Perilfinder™. Together, our combined strengths in catastrophe modeling and location intelligence will empower insurers and underwriters to make smarter, faster risk decisions with greater confidence.”
