Sophos, a global cybersecurity firm, has partnered with UK-based specialist insurance broker Capsule to simplify and enhance access to cyber insurance for businesses using Sophos’ solutions via managed service providers (MSPs).
The joint initiative was born out of the growing demand for cyber insurance, especially among small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs).
These organisations often face hurdles such as lengthy application processes and unclear technical requirements.
According to Sophos research, 99% of MSPs have seen a surge in demand for support related to meeting cyber insurance requirements. To address these challenges, Sophos and Capsule have partnered to create a seamless experience for MSPs and their clients seeking coverage.
Sophos provides a comprehensive suite of cybersecurity services, including managed detection and response (MDR), endpoint protection, and threat intelligence.
The company has become a preferred provider for MSPs in the UK, offering reliable defence mechanisms against modern cyber threats.
Capsule, on the other hand, leverages its broking expertise to translate complex cyber controls into simplified, insurable frameworks.
The company’s digital platform engages directly with insurers to offer indicative quotes quickly, highlight available discounts, and ensure coverage includes crisis management, financial protection, and customer care services. Capsule has a strong track record of making insurance more accessible and reflective of an organisation’s existing cybersecurity posture.
The partnership brings several benefits for Sophos MSP clients and their end customers. These include:
-
Automatic premium discounts for users of Sophos cybersecurity tools, particularly Sophos MDR.
-
A fast, simplified application process that delivers an indicative quote within minutes.
-
Upfront transparency with early-stage pricing estimates.
-
Broad insurance coverage, including financial protection and post-breach customer care.
-
Pre-approved use of Sophos’ incident response services, expediting recovery following an attack.
Together, the companies aim to raise awareness around cyber risk while actively narrowing the insurance coverage gap for businesses.
Sophos’ own claims research underlines the effectiveness of MDR as a risk mitigation tool. Businesses using MDR report 97.5% fewer claims than those relying solely on endpoint detection.
Furthermore, 47% of MDR users fully recovered from attacks within a week, a stark contrast to 18% of endpoint-only users and 27% using EDR/XDR technologies. These statistics reinforce the value of integrated protection and insurance for cyber resilience.
Capsule co-founder and chief operating officer Liam Green said,“Cybersecurity and cyber insurance can no longer operate in silos — they must work together to create measurable risk reduction for businesses,”
“This partnership is built on a simple idea: businesses that are proactively reducing their cyber risk exposure should be proactively rewarded by their insurer to reflect that effort. At Capsule, we’ve always believed insurance should feel like an enabler, not a barrier. That means making policies easier to access, more reflective of the protections already in place, and more dependable when it matters most. By combining Sophos’ frontline threat intelligence our own broking expertise, we’re creating a cyber insurance solution that’s practical, joined-up, and built around what clients actually need — confidence, continuity, and a trusted team ready to help when something goes wrong.”
Sophos senior vice president, worldwide channels and alliances, Chris Bell said,
“Sophos is already the cybersecurity provider of choice for MSPs across the UK, offering the most comprehensive portfolio of market-leading cybersecurity solutions on the market,”
“With this partnership we are extending the benefits available to customers that use Sophos solutions through an MSP while also making it easier for MSPs to support their customers’ cyber insurance needs. Automatic discounts for the use of Sophos cyber controls, including Sophos managed detection and response (MDR), reward proactive risk reduction while streamlined MSP-friendly support in the event of a cyber incident provide peace of mind while minimizing customer disruption.”
