Staysure, a leading travel insurance provider, has officially launched its suite of tailored travel insurance products in the Republic of Ireland, marking the company’s first major expansion beyond the UK.

The Irish travel insurance market has recently experienced massive growth driven by demographic changes, making it fertile ground for Staysure to tap into.

As of 2024, 15.5% of Ireland’s population is aged 65 or older, up from 12.7% a decade ago. When including those in their late 50s and early 60s, more than a quarter of the population is now over 55 — a key audience for Staysure’s specialised insurance services.

Founded in Northampton in 2004, Staysure has become one of the UK’s most recognised travel insurance brands.

The newly launched Irish offering brings Staysure’s trusted, customer-first approach to a growing market segment.

The insurer provides tailored travel cover designed to meet the diverse needs of travellers, especially those managing health conditions. Policies include options for single trips, annual multi-trip coverage, and add-ons for cruise and winter sports holidays.

Market conditions further support Staysure’s move into Ireland. The Irish travel insurance market, valued at around $165m in 2024, is projected to more than double by 2030. Irish residents are also travelling more frequently, with total nights spent abroad rising to 13.8 million in the first quarter of 2025, a 6% increase year-on-year. Meanwhile, research from Trinity College Dublin highlights that 74% of adults aged 58 and over live with two or more chronic conditions, reinforcing the need for comprehensive insurance solutions.

Simon McCulloch, Staysure chief growth officer, said, “Ireland is a natural next step for us. The market is expanding rapidly, yet specialist travel insurance for older travellers and those with medical conditions remains under-served. Building on our proven success in the UK, we’re committed to offering Irish customers the same trusted protection – helping make travel safer, simpler and more inclusive.”
