WTW (Willis Towers Watson) has launched the Radar Connector for Databricks, expanding the capabilities of its insurance analytics and pricing platform through a new native integration with the Databricks Data Intelligence Platform.
The connector enables insurers using WTW Radar to securely access, analyse and return data directly within Databricks, removing the need for manual data transfers and significantly reducing processing time.
Users can select Databricks as a data source within Radar, retrieve datasets in a single step, and push results back into Databricks once analysis is complete. The workflow can also be embedded into automated processes.
According to WTW, the integration reduces the turnaround time for data updates from hours or days to minutes, improving efficiency while strengthening data governance and auditability.
Chris Halliday, Senior Director in WTW’s Insurance Consulting and Technology practice, said the integration creates a more streamlined experience for insurers. He added that Radar’s existing ability to deploy Databricks machine learning models means users can now take full advantage of Databricks’ data and AI infrastructure within the pricing workflow.
Marcela Granados, Global Head of Insurance at Databricks, said the integration allows insurers to unify structured and unstructured data within a single governed environment, ready for pricing and analytics. She said Radar’s pricing models can now connect directly to Databricks’ AI and analytics tooling, enabling faster decision-making while supporting compliance requirements in a highly regulated sector.
Databricks allows insurers to ingest and prepare data from multiple sources, manage quality, lineage and governance through Unity Catalog, and apply AI-driven insights across the organisation. With the new connector, Radar outputs can be shared back into Databricks for wider enterprise use, including visualisation and exploration through tools such as AI/BI Genie and Agent Bricks.
WTW said the combined offering enables insurers to bring data, analytics and AI into a single, secure ecosystem, supporting faster, more informed pricing decisions while maintaining governance and control across the pricing lifecycle.
