Kairos Risk Solutions, a Singapore-based boutique insurance and risk consultancy, has launched a new Weather Data Platform designed to support more sophisticated climate risk assessment and parametric insurance development.
The company introduced the platform in response to growing concern that traditional weather models lose accuracy beyond short-term forecasting windows, constraining insurers’ and brokers’ ability to plan for medium-term climate volatility and design reliable parametric programmes, according to Beinsure.
The newly launched Weather Data Platform combines artificial intelligence with established meteorological forecasting techniques to generate forward-looking weather projections up to 12 months in advance. By extending forecast horizons, the platform aims to bridge a critical gap between short-term weather prediction and long-term climate modelling.
At the core of the system is an analytical engine that processes 77 environmental variables to produce probabilistic forecasts and adaptive trigger recommendations. These outputs are intended to support clearer trigger calibration, enabling brokers to quantify weather-linked exposures with greater confidence when structuring parametric covers.
Beyond forecasting, the platform aligns with increasing industry demand for transparency and predictive analytics in climate risk transfer.
Analysts across the insurance market have highlighted that parametric insurance structures are becoming more dependent on granular, well-calibrated triggers to preserve payout credibility and maintain investor confidence.
Kairos also indicated that the platform will evolve continuously, with further refinements planned to enhance spatial accuracy and scenario testing. These enhancements are expected to strengthen resilience planning and improve the quality of risk transfer recommendations made by brokers and advisors operating in climate-exposed markets.
Access to the Weather Data Platform will initially be extended to Kairos’ partner network and licensed brokers seeking to expand their advisory capabilities within climate and parametric insurance segments across Asia-Pacific.
Kairos Risk Solutions CEO Jeffrey Khoo said, “Our new platform places these insights directly in their hands, transforming how they analyse and respond to climate volatility.”
Kairos Risk Solutions COO Casmond Lim said, “We’re refining the model to enhance spatial accuracy and scenario testing, ensuring brokers can make more informed recommendations for resilience planning and risk transfer.”
