AI underwriting platform Kalepa has appointed Audrey Howell as Head of Product to lead product strategy and innovation across its insurance technology platform.

In the role, Howell will oversee the company’s product vision and development, focusing on advancing AI-driven automation, risk intelligence and portfolio management capabilities for insurers.

Kalepa said the appointment supports its goal of expanding the use of professional-grade AI tools that help insurers improve underwriting performance and grow premiums profitably.

Howell brings more than a decade of experience building technology products in complex and highly regulated industries. She previously spent five years at Palantir Technologies delivering data platforms for organisations operating in high-stakes environments.

She later joined Butterfly Network, where she rose from Product Manager to Vice President of Product and led teams developing mobile, clinical imaging and AI applications, including FDA-regulated products designed to make ultrasound technology more accessible.

Most recently, Howell served as Head of Product at Deep Origin, where she worked on a software platform supporting drug discovery.

Paul Monasterio, CEO of Kalepa, said, “Audrey is a rare product leader – deep technical expertise combined with a proven ability to ship products that drive measurable outcomes in some of the most exacting and regulated environments. She has consistently built products that professionals trust to make the highest-stakes decisions in defense, healthcare, and now risk.”

Audrey Howell said, “Kalepa is already trusted by the leading insurers to strengthen underwriting performance and drive profitable growth – and I see a tremendous opportunity to accelerate Kalepa’s penetration across the insurance value chain.”

Howell holds a PhD in Genetics and Genomics from Duke University and a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Brown University, and completed postdoctoral research at Stanford University.
