Commercial insurers are set to gain a sharper view of cyber risk at the point of underwriting, following a new partnership between Cytora, the digital risk processing platform, and VulnCheck, the exploit intelligence company, supported by European partner Infinite Insight.
The collaboration integrates VulnCheck’s evidence-driven, machine-consumable intelligence into the Cytora platform, allowing insurers to move beyond static submission forms and automatically enrich submissions with dynamic data intelligence on a prospect’s software vulnerabilities and exploit exposure.
At the point of underwriting, this gives underwriters immediate visibility of an applicant’s digital footprint and a clearer picture of the severity of their risk profile, underpinned by validated exploit context.
The practical impact for insurers is the ability to ground pricing and capacity decisions in the most current and accurate intelligence available. Combining Cytora’s generative AI-powered risk processing with VulnCheck’s specialised vulnerability data, the integration targets the enrichment phase of underwriting workflows, with the aim of cutting decision latency and building greater resilience across cyber portfolios as the threat landscape continues to shift.
For Cytora, the deal represents another building block in its broader goal of creating the insurance industry’s most comprehensive data ecosystem.
Cytora’s platform is built around generative AI applied to commercial insurance workflows, enabling brokers, insurers and reinsurers to digitise risk processing at scale with a focus on performance, configurability and scalability.
VulnCheck’s specialism lies in helping security-focused organisations act on attacker timelines rather than disclosure timelines, delivering intelligence on which vulnerabilities are actively being weaponised and when they become exploitable.
Separately, Cytora recently launched Cytora Autopilot, a product intended to enable fully automated end-to-end risk workflows for the first time, moving the industry beyond isolated pockets of digitisation toward processes that operate independently from start to finish.
Cytora COO Juan de Castro said: “Cyber risk is one of the most dynamic and challenging lines of business to underwrite. Our partnership with VulnCheck brings a sophisticated layer of vulnerability intelligence directly into the risk processing workflow. This enables our clients to move beyond basic questionnaires and access actionable intelligence that drives smarter, faster, and more resilient cyber underwriting decisions.”
VulnCheck chief marketing officer Thomas Bain said: “Effective cyber risk assessment requires more than vulnerability counts. It demands insights into which vulnerabilities are weaponized in the wild. By integrating VulnCheck’s intelligence into Cytora’s platform, insurers get the deepest context on threat activity, enabling more accurate risk differentiation and underwriting confidence.”
