Why Ostrum AM bet on Ortec’s GLASS and PRISM tools

Ortec Finance, a provider of investment modelling solutions, has been chosen by Ostrum Asset Management, an insurance and institutional investment specialist affiliated with Natixis Investment Managers, to strengthen the investment offering it delivers to insurance and pension clients.

The mandate covers two of Ortec Finance’s flagship tools, GLASS ALM and the PRISM Machine-Learning Optimization solution. Ostrum Asset Management arrived at its decision after a rigorous technical review, opting to run its Strategic Asset Allocation work through one unified platform for building bespoke investment strategies. According to the firms, the deal points to a wider trend of asset managers seeking sophisticated modelling capabilities as the investment challenges facing insurers and pension schemes grow more intricate.

Through scenario modelling and advanced analytics, the technology will equip Ostrum Asset Management’s investment teams to generate deeper insights for clients contending with market uncertainty while pursuing long-horizon financial goals.

Ortec Finance describes GLASS as a market-leading platform for insurance and pensions ALM. The system embeds robust capital market assumptions that power full balance sheet dynamics, while PRISM, its scenario-based machine-learning optimiser, handles complex objectives and constraints including Solvency ratios and risk capital. Interactive dashboards, which can be customised, convert granular outputs into digestible insights that demonstrate value to stakeholders.

For asset managers, embedding these tools into solution design means offering clients stronger risk management and strategies shaped around their individual goals and constraints. Deploying GLASS as a shared platform across insurance and pension mandates also brings methodological consistency and operational efficiency.

The firm’s modelling techniques let users optimise allocation decisions by targeting regulatory capital, funding and reporting objectives directly, whatever the complexity involved, giving investment managers a quantitative view of the trade-offs between alternative strategies, their risk-return aims and overall balance sheet positions.

Ortec Finance managing director Hamish Bailey said, “We are thrilled to have been selected by Ostrum Asset Management to support its investment solutions capabilities. This decision not only illustrates the power and flexibility of the GLASS system, but also its ability to help asset managers serve insurance and pension clients through a single, consistent modelling platform.”
