Corgi Insurance, a full-stack commercial insurance platform, and Trucker Path Insurance, the insurance arm of the widely used trucking navigation app Trucker Path, have launched what they describe as the first trucking insurance programme underwritten using route-planning data.
The programme is available exclusively to users of the Trucker Path app, which is used by more than 1.2 million professional drivers to plan their journeys.
Participation is opt-in and remains under driver control, with coverage spanning auto liability, motor truck cargo, physical damage and general liability. Trucker Path Insurance acts as agent of record for the programme, while Corgi has built the underwriting model around Trucker Path’s proprietary navigation data.
The companies point to severe weather and cargo theft corridors as two of the most persistent causes of loss in trucking, noting that conventional underwriting typically only accounts for these risks retrospectively, once a claim has already occurred.
Trucker Path’s app is designed to steer drivers away from such exposure in advance, offering truck-specific routing, hazard alerts, sharp-turn warnings, road closure updates and lane restriction data. Because these routing decisions are made before a truck leaves the yard, they shape the risk a fleet is exposed to, and the new underwriting approach is intended to reward fleets that consistently plan around known hazards.
The companies also highlighted a gap in how smaller operators have historically been assessed. Data-led underwriting in trucking has so far been concentrated among larger fleets that can justify the cost of telematics hardware, the release said, leaving operations running fewer than 10 trucks to be assessed largely on filings, loss history and driver records. By drawing on data from an app fleets already use day to day, Trucker Path Insurance is aiming to bring this smaller segment into a more data-informed underwriting process.

Corgi Trucking head of strategy Drew Bregman said, “This is a class of underwriting information that has not existed in this segment. It let us build a program around the data instead of adding an endorsement to a standard product.”
