Orange Insurance Exchange has gone live with three property insurance products simultaneously across Florida, moving onto Solstice Innovations’ AI-native Equinox policy administration platform.
The Florida reciprocal insurance exchange began writing new business on HO-3, HO-6 and DP-3 policies, spanning homeowners, condominium and dwelling fire cover, from 1 September 2026.
Instead of staggering the launches, Orange brought all three products online together through Equinox, which handles rating, issuance, endorsements, renewals, claims, billing and forms in one system. The insurer’s commercial lines are expected to join the platform in early 2027.
According to Orange and Solstice, the platform’s configurability means the carrier can update rates, rules and forms on its own timeline, rather than depending on a development cycle.
Artificial intelligence runs through the platform’s underwriting, servicing and claims functions. At quote stage, it validates and enriches property data, reducing manual entry for agents and improving submission accuracy.
In underwriting, the system prioritises referrals based on risk signals and sorts inspections, loss runs and correspondence, allowing underwriters to focus on decision-making rather than routine review. Human approval remains required for all binding decisions.
Solstice has extended its use of AI beyond the platform itself, applying it to its own software development, client onboarding and support functions.
Equinox is built by Solstice Innovations for carriers and MGAs operating across NFIP flood, private flood, homeowners and commercial insurance lines. The firm positions the platform as AI-native by design, distinguishing it from systems where AI has been added to older infrastructure.
The Orange rollout follows a run of carriers and MGAs that moved onto Equinox during 2026 across flood and homeowners business. Solstice maintains it is the only platform combining NFIP flood, private flood and homeowners insurance within a single AI-native system.
Orange Insurance Exchange CEO Don Matz said, “We looked hard at what it would take to bring three products to market without compromising underwriting discipline. Solstice gave us a platform that’s genuinely configurable, which means our underwriting team can respond to what we’re seeing in the book instead of waiting on a release calendar. Our agents get a faster, cleaner submission process, and our members get decisions in a fraction of the time. Personal lines is the starting point; we’re building our commercial product on the same foundation in early 2027.”
Solstice Innovations CEO Travis Pine added, “There’s a real difference between AI bolted onto a legacy system and AI that’s woven into the DNA of the architecture from day one, that’s the line we hold ourselves to. Orange came to us with a clear picture of how they wanted to underwrite and where the friction actually was. Standing up three products simultaneously on one configurable platform, with AI supporting the underwriter instead of replacing them, is exactly the kind of deployment Equinox was built for.”
The launch highlights how AI-native infrastructure can help insurers accelerate time to market while keeping underwriting judgement in human hands.
