Digit Insurance teams with Aftersales to launch smartphone insurance cover

Digit Insurance has teamed with Aftersales Group for the launch of an InsurTech solution India.

Gadget Protect will offer consumers with security and insurance services for smartphones. Included in the product is cover for accidental and liquid damage, supplied by Digit Insurance, and G data mobile internet security which is provided by Aftersales.

G data mobile internet security gives mobile users with an electronic-data security code for a secured location storing their software, apps and data.

The new solution also boasts a faster claim time for consumers and a mobile protection which is contracted directly between consumers and insurance firms.

AfterSales is a Netherlands-based company which develops, implements and manages insurance services for mobile phones.

Digit Insurance is an online insurance platform which offers consumers in India with access to car, travel, mobile, and jewellery insurance policies. There are a handful of other protections in its pipeline, including bike, health and home insurance.

Aftersales Group founder and co-owner Frank Vernooij said, “When it comes to off-line sales, gadget insurance in India has a history of unreliable offerings and are highly dependent on the moral and financial performance of the intermediary service provider.

“We see Digit’s fast-growing and innovative platform as a compliment to the seamless customer experience we provide. With this partnership, our goal is to deliver a complete one stop customer care experience for people using mobile devices.”

Last year, India-based Digit pulled in $44m in its second round of funding from Fairfax Holdings. The capital was deployed to support the development of its technology and launch of new products.
