InsurTech 100 company launches health insurance marketplace for SMEs

InsurTech 100 company Wellthie has released a US-wide online health insurance marketplace for small businesses.

This marketplace will help small businesses to view thousands of medical, dental and vision products from across the country, in order to find the best price and suitability for their needs. A consumer can instantly connect with licensed brokers through the app, who will guide them through the purchase and enrolment of policies.

Its marketplace works by an employer inputting their zip code and the birthdates of their employees. The system will then provide a variety of policies to compare, such as prices and benefits – a number of educational tools are available alongside a broker, to ease decision making.

Wellthie founder and CEO Sally Poblete said, “Small businesses want both the ease and convenience of researching and shopping online, while also having the support of expert brokers because they are buying an important and valuable benefit for their employees. The Wellthie experience uniquely offers both.”

The InsurTech raised a $5m Series A round of funding last year, with IA Capital leading the investment. Based in New York, the company raised the funds to support the growth and development of its product.

Last year, Wellthie was named in the InsurTech 100, a list of the most innovative InsurTech companies that every leader in the insurance industry needs to know about.
