InsurTech Sunday bags $11m in new Series A extension round

Thailand-based InsurTech startup Sunday has received $11m in an investment deal led by Quona Capital, the venture capital firm.

Existing investor Vertex also participated in Sunday’s Series A extension round.

CEO Cindy Kua co-founded Sunday in 2017. Today the startup offers end-to-end insurance products and services powered by machine learning.

“Over the last two years, Sunday has been laser-focused on redesigning the entire insurance journey using data and technology,” Kua said. “Today we’re proud to be able to deliver personalised coverage and superior customer experiences from initial insurance purchase all the way through to any claims, whether on the Sunday system or through its partner channels.”

The new capital will be used to fund the development of its technology, focusing particularly in the healthcare space.

Sunday closed a $10m Series A round in February 2019. At the time, the startup said it was expecting to receive more funding later in the year.
