Earthquake insurance platform Jumpstart partners with Acrisure

Jumpstart will be distributing its earthquake insurance through insurance broker Acrisure in a new partnership.

Through the deal, Jumpstart will be available for Acrisure’s clients located in California. In California, the chance of a magnitude 6.7+ earthquake within the next 30 years is 99%, according to the company. Despite this, only 10% of Californian households have earthquake insurance.

Jumpstart provides US homeowners with earthquake insurance which gives immediate payout initiated via a text. Payments are triggered in the event of a pre-specified incident.

Acrisure growth leader Ken Walton said, “Disaster insurance is top of mind after recent wildfires, and we’re in need of creative solutions like Jumpstart that are good for the client and good for the industry.

“In times of crisis, everyone needs money for something they didn’t anticipate and that’s a reality we’re all experiencing here and now due to the massive disruption caused by coronavirus. It will be just as chaotic after a big earthquake.”
