Hippo Insurance to offer better home security services with new SimpliSafe deal

Hippo Insurance is supplying homeowners with more options to protect their homes following a new partnership with home security system builder SimpliSafe.

The agreement will enable Hippo customers to access a professionally monitored home alarm system from SimpliSafe. This will include a seven-piece home security system comprised of a HD camera, two water sensors, a smoke detector, a window or door entry sensor, keypad and base station.

Furthermore, eligible customers will receive two free months of 24/7 interactive monitoring and a discount on their annual home insurance premium. Following the two month period, customers will need to pay $14.99 each month.

Hippo has already distributed more than 200,000 self-monitored smart sensors to its customers, as part of its own smart home capabilities package.

With the introduction of SimpliSafe’s solutions customers can get alerted when a water sensor detects water levels rise on the floor above a width of a credit card. The security cameras have video verification to help police catching thieves.

Hippo VP of partnerships Yuval Harry said, “The growth of our smart home program has revealed that customers want more flexibility and options when it comes to protecting their home.

“Our partnership with SimpliSafe, an innovative leader in home security and whole home protection, allows us to introduce a new calibre of smart home devices for our customers, with the goal of expanding to even more states to ensure that a deeper level of proactive protection is available to those who want it.”

Last year, Hippo secured $100m in its Series D round to help it expand its reach across the US.
