Williams, who previously served as the company’s chief operating officer for commercial lines, excess & surplus, and specialty, brings over two decades of industry experience to his new role.

In his new position, Williams will leverage his extensive expertise to drive Nationwide’s Small Market Commercial Lines business forward. His focus will be on refining the division’s specialised appetite and enhancing the digital experience for agents, aligning with the company’s commitment to delivering value and protection to its customers.

Williams is a seasoned professional in the insurance industry, having held various leadership positions throughout his career. Prior to joining Nationwide, he served as the Head of Global Client Support Services for Guy Carpenter, where he spearheaded transformative initiatives to enhance client service and claims insights.

Additionally, he has held significant roles at AIG, including COO of the North American General Insurance division and Global Small and Middle Market Enterprises Product Leader for multiple regions.

Nationwide is a prominent insurance carrier with a wide range of offerings, including commercial lines, personal insurance, and financial services. Their Small Market Commercial Lines division focuses on providing insurance solutions tailored to the needs of small businesses.

Russ Johnston, Nationwide’s president of Commercial Lines, Excess & Surplus, Specialty, stated, “Leading a small commercial platform requires a combination of underwriting, technology, operational excellence and customer focus.
