A new initiative, known as the Travel Insurance Eco Challenge, has been launched aiming to foster sustainable travel practices within the global travel insurance industry.

The Travel Insurance Eco Challenge, conceived by Jennifer Milton, the founder of Compass Point Assist, marks the beginning of a concerted effort by the travel insurance sector to promote sustainability and carbon offsetting in travel.

The Challenge invites participants to embrace sustainable modes of transportation for their trips and share their journeys with a symbolic baton. Additionally, participants can choose to offset their carbon footprint by supporting a reforestation project led by the Malawi-based charity, Temwa.

The initiative seeks to raise awareness about the importance of carbon balancing in travel and address gaps in current carbon offsetting practices. By encouraging conscious decision-making regarding travel needs and transportation modes, the Travel Insurance Eco Challenge aims to drive positive environmental impact within the industry.

The move is a collaborative effort involving industry figures such as Sarah Watson and Kirsty Diclaudio, co-founders of the Travel & Health Insurance Series (THIS), who share the vision of promoting sustainable practices in travel.
