Sompo, a prominent global provider of commercial and consumer property and casualty (re)insurance, has launched a new national marine insurance proposition tailored for the United Kingdom.
This marks the first time Sompo will offer Marine Cargo and Transport & Logistics policies across the UK, outside its traditional London market.
The launch of this new proposition is aimed at meeting the growing regional demand for marine insurance coverage.
Sompo is expanding its capacity and strengthening its regional teams to deliver specialised services outside London, enhancing the options available to brokers and clients across the UK.
The firm has long been known for its global reach and comprehensive insurance offerings. The company provides a wide range of property and casualty (re)insurance products to commercial and consumer clients, with a strong presence in key markets worldwide, including London.
The new Marine Cargo UK policy offers all-risks coverage, automatically protecting clients without the need for Institute Cargo Clauses unless specific exclusions are listed.
Simplifying the customer experience, Sompo has consolidated all policy coverage into a single document for ease of understanding and streamlined access.
Sompo’s Transport & Logistics UK proposition also provides a complete solution under one policy, including freight liability, employers’ liability, public and products liability, pollution liability, and property cover for material damage and business interruption.
The offering is designed to cater to a variety of businesses, such as road hauliers, freight forwarders, couriers, warehouse keepers, customs brokers, and contract logistics companies.
Outside of London, these lines will be led by Diane Blyth, Head of (Retail) Marine Cargo UK Regions, and Jon Clare, Head of (Retail) Transport & Logistics, UK Regions. Both will report to Paul Ashworth, Head of Aviation, Energy & Marine, who oversees Sompo’s marine business in London.
Bob Thaker, CEO, Commercial P&C Insurance, Sompo, UK said, “We are constantly looking at ways to adapt our business model to ensure we provide the very best service and experience possible to brokers and clients right across the UK. By increasing capacity and establishing an outstanding team of regionally-based underwriters, our new proposition expands the offering we currently provide in London so we can now also cater for growing regional demand to write directly Marine Cargo and Transport & Logistics policies. Both have been developed to be as simple as possible and are underwritten by our highly experienced team of marine specialists to eliminate uncertainty and ensure peace of mind for our clients.”
