Vienna Insurance Group (VIG), the largest insurance group in Central and Eastern Europe, has launched a new venture focused on assisting small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in managing and mitigating cyber risks.
This move comes in response to the increasing global concerns regarding cyber insecurity, as highlighted in the World Economic Forum’s Global Risks Report 2024, which ranks cyber threats among the top four global risks.
The launch of the offering, known as CyRiSo, reflects VIG’s commitment to enhancing its support for corporate clients, offering tailored consulting and managed cybersecurity services.
With cyber attacks becoming more frequent and sophisticated, VIG aims to provide a crucial resource for SMEs that may lack the expertise or resources to address these evolving threats effectively.
Christoph Rath, Deputy Member of the VIG Managing Board explained, “This new venture underscores our commitment to delivering both insurance and expert services that strengthen cyber resilience.”
VIG has long been a prominent player in the insurance sector, providing comprehensive coverage and innovative solutions to meet the diverse needs of its clients.
With the launch of CyRiSo, the company aims to expand its portfolio, ensuring that its clients have access to cutting-edge cybersecurity expertise alongside traditional insurance products.
CyRiSo will offer a range of cybersecurity services designed to prevent and address the damage caused by cyber attacks. This includes risk assessments, security audits, crisis management, and ongoing data protection.
The company’s holistic approach is particularly focused on ransomware prevention, implementing both technical and organisational countermeasures. Additionally, CyRiSo will provide recovery testing and training, equipping businesses to handle potential cyber incidents more effectively.
Leading CyRiSo are seasoned cybersecurity experts Christiana Bruckner and Michael Ganzwohl, who bring extensive experience in sales, cyber risk management, and global security consulting. Their expertise will be instrumental in guiding SMEs through the complexities of cybersecurity and ensuring that VIG’s clients are well-prepared to face emerging threats.
