Zurich North America, a leading provider of insurance solutions, is expanding its US Middle Market business by adding more than 100 underwriting roles to serve additional geographies.

The company initially established its Middle Market business unit in 2020 to position Zurich as an industry leader in this segment, according to the Coverager.

Since its launch, Zurich Middle Market has developed key risk management solutions tailored to customers and distributors, including an admitted Primary Products Liability Policy for life sciences companies and My Zurich Broker Concierge, a tool that grants brokers on-demand access to loss runs and transaction statuses, with or without API integration.

Additionally, the company has implemented Smart Renewals, allowing many accounts to be fast-tracked for renewal without requiring a full re-underwriting process.

Zurich North America provides a range of insurance products and services, catering to businesses across various industries. The company leverages its extensive expertise, global reach, and over 150 years of financial strength to offer comprehensive risk management solutions.

The expansion of Zurich’s Middle Market business comes as part of the company’s effort to support the growing segment of midsize businesses across the US. These businesses are not limited to major metropolitan areas but are spread throughout the country, requiring broader access to tailored insurance services. By expanding its underwriting team, Zurich aims to better serve customers and brokers in these markets.

The new underwriting roles will enhance Zurich’s ability to provide industry-specialised insights, helping businesses manage their risks effectively. The expansion also aligns with the company’s commitment to being closer to its customers and offering holistic solutions across its broad portfolio of services.

Additionally, Lisa Diers, a 28-year veteran at Zurich, has been appointed as Head of Onboarding & Development for Middle Market. Her leadership will support the onboarding and professional development of the growing underwriting team.

Zurich North America head of US Middle Market Alex Wells said, “Middle market businesses are a growing force in the U.S. economy, and they aren’t concentrated in just a handful of the largest cities. We want to meet these businesses and their brokers where they are. Our Middle Market business formed as a distinct unit at Zurich five years ago, and the success we’ve had since then validates three of our driving principles – being as close to our customers and brokers as possible, offering them industry-specialised insights from underwriters and risk engineers who know and understand their business, and fulfilling their needs holistically through Zurich’s wide range of offerings, global capabilities and 153 years of financial strength. Investing in this next expansion is the latest way we’re executing on our principles. We take pride in helping midsize businesses protect their people and assets as they build on their own momentum and act on opportunities.”
