Singapore-based InsurTech firm bolttech has expanded its partnership with Amazon Web Services (AWS) to implement generative AI (GenAI) across its global operations.
The collaboration aims to bolster bolttech’s capabilities in delivering hyper-personalised, multilingual customer interactions, while improving operational workflows and reducing costs at scale, according to InsurTech Insights, The centrepiece of this initiative is the newly launched bolttech Gen AI Factory, developed using Amazon Bedrock.
bolttech’s Gen AI Factory enhances its omnichannel call centre operations—already powered by Amazon Connect and Amazon Lex—by incorporating agentic AI to facilitate real-time, natural conversations. A key pilot programme features Korean-language speech-to-speech support, allowing customers to receive instant, personalised insurance responses.
Founded as a digital InsurTech with a mission to connect people with innovative protection solutions, bolttech offers embedded insurance distribution, digital brokerage, and device protection services. The company leverages a tech-driven model to streamline access to insurance products across various markets.
Amazon Web Services, a subsidiary of Amazon, provides on-demand cloud computing platforms and APIs to individuals, companies, and governments. Its portfolio includes advanced machine learning and Gen AI services, such as Amazon Bedrock and Amazon Q Developer, which empower businesses to innovate rapidly and at scale.
The bolttech-AWS collaboration also focuses on transforming internal processes. Developers at bolttech are using Amazon Q Developer to cut documentation time by more than 50% and improve onboarding efficiency—particularly useful for the firm’s JavaScript and Python codebase. This allows engineers to prioritise innovation over repetitive tasks.
The Gen AI Factory serves as an enterprise-wide innovation hub, supporting bolttech teams in deploying Gen AI applications across underwriting, customer service, product development, and claims processing. This strategy includes AI-driven models for predictive risk, prevention alerts for cyber threats and natural disasters, and virtual assistants for post-incident recovery support.
Priscilla Chong, country manager, AWS Singapore, praised bolttech’s leadership in adopting AI: “The insurance sector in Southeast Asia is using the latest cloud technology and generative AI to make protecting assets easier, more affordable, and more intuitive,” she said. “bolttech is an example of a company delivering innovation using generative AI to enhance customer experiences, improve operational efficiency, and drive innovation in how insurance services are delivered and consumed globally.”
bolttech is positioning itself as a next-generation digital insurer by harnessing AWS’s infrastructure and Gen AI capabilities. The firm’s ability to leverage AI across multiple business areas supports its strategic goal of delivering scalable, cost-efficient, and customer-centric solutions.
bolttech CEO, Asia, Philip Weiner said, “We remain steadfast in our vision to connect people with more ways to protect the things they value. To achieve this at scale, we rely on the right data and AI infrastructure. AWS’s cloud computing and Gen AI services, including Amazon Bedrock, provide the foundation to access diverse model choices, deliver superior price-performance ratios, and robust trust and safety enterprise features that align perfectly with our needs.”
He added, “The ability to select from various AI models, such as Amazon Nova, helps support rapid innovation to improve customer experiences in our industry, including how we can offer real-time policy explanations, instant claims processing, and near-human AI interactions by leveraging advances in agentic AI. With this collaboration, we can enhance our ability to deliver more choice to our partners and their customers, ensuring they have access to the most innovative protection solutions available.”
Weiner further stated, “With tools like Amazon Q Developer, we can shift developer focus from repetitive tasks to innovation. It’s all part of our mission to stay agile and tech-forward as we deliver the best protection solutions for our partners and customers.”
