UK insurer Ageas has joined the Financial Services Skills Commission to help equip its 2,200 employees with future-ready skills.

The move is set to bolster the insurer’s internal development and enable greater career progression for its staff, according to FF News.

As a newly minted partner member of the FSSC, Ageas will join the advisory group and contribute to key working groups focused on tackling the financial services sector’s skill gaps.

The FSSC, a not-for-profit, member-led body, works directly with financial services organisations to address workforce capabilities. Ageas’s involvement signifies its long-term commitment to investing in employee growth, enhancing reskilling, upskilling and attracting diverse talent into the sector.

Known for its purpose of delivering excellent service during crucial moments, Ageas was recently recognised with the ServiceMark with Distinction by the Institute of Customer Service, making it the largest personal lines insurer to achieve this status. It has also been named a Top Employer in the UK for the fourth consecutive year, ranking eighth nationally in 2025.

Ageas’s culture emphasises nurturing talent from within, offering career development based on interest rather than hierarchy. One of its flagship initiatives, the Pathfinder apprenticeship programme, enables employees from any department to transition into permanent roles in high-demand areas such as data, IT development, or digital marketing—regardless of prior experience.

Sian Myers, Chief People Officer at Ageas, commented: “At Ageas I’m proud to say that we invest in the best and we are committed to offering our people a great place to grow their skills and their careers. Being a member of the Financial Services Skills Commission will enable us to ensure that we’re able to continue breaking down barriers to entry and empowering our people to try, explore, and develop.”

Claire Tunley, Chief Executive of the Financial Services Skills Commission, added: “The team at Ageas are already focused on increasing technical excellence and internal mobility across their workforce. We’re looking forward to working with them to boost skills and position themselves for future growth and success.”
