Tokio Marine HCC, a leading specialty insurance group headquartered in Houston, has appointed Elizabeth Geary as president & CEO of its newly established North America Property & Casualty (P&C) division.
The company continues to expand its leadership team as part of its growth strategy in the specialty insurance sector, according to InsurTech Insights.
Tokio Marine HCC specialises in providing specialty insurance solutions, with a strong focus on underwriting excellence and financial strength. The launch of its North America P&C division marks a strategic move to enhance its footprint and address the evolving needs of brokers and insureds in the region.
Elizabeth Geary brings over 20 years of underwriting and executive leadership experience to Tokio Marine HCC. She will take on the role from June 30, 2025, reporting directly to Susan Rivera, CEO of TMHCC, and will be based in New York City. Geary’s previous roles include president of Insurance Solutions at Liberty Mutual, where she led efforts in emerging risk areas such as cyber, energy transition, and alternative risk solutions. She also held senior leadership positions at TransRe, including global head of cyber, chief underwriting officer for North America, and president of global portfolio management.
Geary will be responsible for overseeing the strategic growth, performance, and leadership of TMHCC’s North America P&C business units, reflecting the company’s continued investment in expanding its leadership structure to support long-term growth.
The appointment aligns with Tokio Marine HCC’s broader leadership strengthening, following the recent promotion of Barry Cook to deputy CEO in April 2025. These moves underscore TMHCC’s intent to build a robust executive team capable of navigating a rapidly shifting risk environment.
Susan Rivera, CEO of TMHCC, said, “Appointing Liz to the new role of president & CEO of our North America P&C business units is a statement of intent for our business. Her talent and track record of underwriting acumen, product strategy, and leadership are exceptional. As TMHCC continues to evolve to meet the demands of a rapidly shifting risk environment, Liz embodies our strategy of attracting top-tier talent aligned with our specialty focus.”
Commenting on her new role, Geary said, “Tokio Marine HCC’s North American business is recognized as a market leader in specialty insurance, with a reputation for underwriting excellence and financial strength. I am thrilled to be joining Susan and the team to help drive profitable growth and deliver innovative solutions for brokers and insureds across the region.”
Geary’s appointment highlights Tokio Marine HCC’s commitment to reinforcing its position in the North American P&C market by leveraging its specialty expertise and adapting to complex risk challenges.
