Insurtech Gateway, the specialist incubator for MGA and SaaS founders addressing large-scale challenges, has been authorised to trade within the Lloyd’s market after securing its Lloyd’s Broker licence.

Gateway, with incubators in London and Sydney, supports more than 45 portfolio companies across 98 countries, working with 75 insurance partners according to InsurTech Insights.

The partnership with Lloyd’s aims to strengthen Gateway’s platform for early-stage MGAs, particularly those targeting emerging risks in underserved or fast-changing markets, by resolving one of the sector’s biggest obstacles – access to underwriting capacity.

For many new MGAs, securing insurer backing has historically been a significant barrier to launch, even for well-prepared teams. Gateway’s new broker status now allows it to introduce its portfolio companies directly to the Lloyd’s market, enabling rapid market entry, piloting of propositions, and validation of business models.

Insurtech Gateway provides pre-seed and seed investment, insurance product design expertise, fast-track FCA regulation with Appointed Representative status available within weeks, and access to a network of progressive (re)insurers. Its alumni include Bondaval, Coincover, Kita, Truvi, and Onsi, demonstrating the incubator’s track record in supporting innovative insurance startups.

Lloyd’s, one of the world’s leading insurance markets, offers underwriting capacity and global reach. Its collaboration with Insurtech Gateway provides emerging MGAs with direct market access, complementing the incubator’s broader support services.

The new broking capability is designed to help founders tackle pressing global challenges such as climate resilience, financial inclusion, and health security, ensuring they have the capacity, compliance, and capital required to close protection gaps and accelerate positive change.

Richard Chattock, CEO of Insurtech Gateway, said, “We have worked closely with Lloyd’s underwriters for years, so it’s exciting to formalise that relationship. It creates an even clearer path for us to bring bold new ideas into the London Market – and helps our founders start trading faster than ever before.”
