Obie, an insurance platform focused on real estate investors, has formed a partnership with Markel, a global specialty insurer, to expand capacity for its nationwide programme.
The collaboration is driven by growing demand in a tightening insurance market, where fluctuating rates and stricter underwriting are making it harder for property owners to secure adequate cover, according to InsurTech Insights.
By integrating Markel into its platform, Obie is aiming to offer landlords and property investors greater choice, competitive pricing, and more tailored insurance solutions aligned with their investment strategies.
Obie provides a digital-first platform that simplifies the insurance process for property investors.
It enables landlords to quote and bind policies online while also offering the option to work with advisors. Insurance agents and embedded partners gain streamlined access to carrier products through the platform.
This move will enable property owners and agents to access expanded options and have greater flexibility when arranging coverage.
The move also builds on Obie’s recent integrations with Hadron Specialty Insurance and Southlake Specialty Insurance, further strengthening its carrier panel.
Judson Taylor, head of insurance product at Obie, said, “This partnership reinforces Obie’s commitment to giving investors real choice in a space that often overlooks them. Markel brings quality and flexibility to our growing network of partners, helping our users protect their properties and advance their investments.”
